I HATE Oma Desala. Hate hate HATE her.

For one, she 'ascended' Daniel. If she hadn't, then he would have been dead, and therefore Jonas would still be a member of SG-1 (WHY there can't be 5 people on a team I do not know). Of course, my mom jokingly suggested this reason when I mentioned I hated Oma during a pause on 'Meridian'. But hey, it's kinda appropriate. For two, she frickin' roasts a shitload of Jaffa... and NO ONE sees ANYTHING WRONG with this! Um... Yes, I know they were all about the 'kill SG-1' thing at the time, but they can't exactly help the indoctrination of the Goa'uld. She could have just as easily disabled them; taken them out of the fight. But she didn't. She killed them. Three, she tells Daniel (it IS Oma that tells him, right?) about the whole ' no interference' thing... and yet she does exactly that. Hell, even if she WASN'T, should they (they being the other Ascended) let her get away with interfering as their not supposed to? Even if she is an outcast Ascended. You'd think they'd keep an eye on her, make sure she's not screwing shit up too terribly badly.

Of course.... we don't see her do much else other than interfere with stuff Daniel's involved in... ::laugh:: Maybe she thinks he's sexy. Oma has the hots for Daniel.

Well.... at least I amuse myself.

Daniel is the perfect pawn for Oma. Notice that, technically, the only things *she* did (once he'd ascended) was fix his mistakes. He promised the Abydonians they wouldn't die (basically), and she carried through his promise.

The woman likes to fuck with his head, and has done so from the beginning. "Look! I'm giving you shiny sparkly powers! Only... they're really not yours. Nyah."

I think the Ancients realized what a big boo-boo a half-ascended goa'uld was (despite his inability to actually accomplish the deaths of even SG-1), and decided that they needed to use someone to fix it. Daniel works naturally as a pawn, and they even get to throw in the Lost City as a taunt.

Of course, this is all in my own head, since I have a feeling the writers were more like, "Hey, we're out of tequila." "Damn. So. Daniel?" "Ascended." "Damn. Vodka?" "Too harsh right now. Oma DEsala?" "Does something nice." "Hey! DeLuise, that's MY drink!" Or something like that...

Don't forget. Oma Desala was like 3rd or 2nd season stuff. A lot has changed, storyline wise since they instituted the whole... Ascended can't do shit. Remember that guy that harassed Carter for a while? Well, he had a pretty big effect, by causing some special ops to come in. And he could materialize into a person, and do stuff. Daniel couldn't. Why? Because the story changes, little things change too. I mean, in all honestly, were you made at SG-1 for instituting the Zat guns, or making it easy to kill a couple Jaffa with P90's, or having Jaffa have a pouch, or any other changes? They have to change stuff on the go.
