Why are they using the Jurassic Park theme for the opening bit of the Olympics?

Because the Jurassic Park theme is impressive leik wh0a.
That reminds me of the time I saw a preview for that tiger movie, I think it's called "Two Brothers", and they used the Dragonheart theme and I was like, "OMFG DO NOT BLASPHEME MY MOVIE IN SUCH A WAY!!!"
I mean, I love tigers and all, but Dragonheart, man. Leave it alone and don't steal the music from it.

John Williams wrote a fanfare called "Summon the heroes" for the Olympics one time. Maybe the Olympic committee have rights to some of his other music too. They might have an agreement type thingie going on.

That sounds like a really weird choice, no matter how beautiful the Jurassic Park theme is. Here's a wild thought: ask a composer to compose something original just for the Olympics. It would have more meaning for me that way.
